Humans, dogs and goats all scramble for food at the Opuwo dumping site after the town council truck’s arrived to offload some waste on Wednesday afternoon. The town, situated in the Kunene Region, is home to over 20 000 people. In the picture, Tjirombo Kandimuine scavenges with her 10-month-old baby. They visit the dumping site to collect metal, which they resell in town to make money. The group said they have not received drought relief food for more than five months now. Parents take their children with them to the dump, where they spend their days sifting through waste instead of going to school.
