Erongo launches N$487m strategic plan
The Erongo Regional Council launched its five-year strategic plan on 3 September, alongside its 2025–2030 budget, which is set at over N$487 million.
The plan prioritises infrastructure, education, health, environmental sustainability and economic empowerment, aiming to improve service delivery and promote inclusive development across the region.
For the 2025/2026 financial year, council has earmarked around N$183 million, with the largest share, more than N$95.8 million, going to the operational budget.
Other allocations include N$7 million for the development budget, over N$49.8 million for assessment rates funds, around N$26.5 million for Wlotzkasbaken funds and N$3.5 million for the rural development budget.
Every cent counts
Erongo governor Nathalia /Goagoses described the strategic plan as key to guiding the region through the next five years with purpose, resilience and unity.
"This is a reflection of our region's shared aspirations, underpinned by values of transparency, accountability and service excellence," adding that "the success of this plan will not be determined by its pages, but by the actions that go into its implementation. It will require courage to make difficult decisions and collaboration across all sectors.”
The governor called on leaders, administrators, local authorities and the private sector to unite behind the plan, further warning that no form of corruption or mismanagement would be tolerated.
“Every penny should be accounted for,” she said.
A brighter future
/Goagoses underscored the importance of teamwork and inclusivity: “Let us work and walk together as leaders, employees, citizens and partners towards a future that is not only dreamt of but vividly realised.”
Reviewing past achievements under the 2017–2024 plan, the Erongo council was recognised as Namibia’s best-performing regional council in implementing the customer service charter.
It also achieved full compliance in the Office of the Prime Minister’s human resources audit and ranked among the top ten public institutions for staff training and development.
