A village steps into the future
A digital breakthrough bringing skills, opportunity and hope to Tses
The Tses Village Council has officially unveiled the first-ever Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre in this rural town, a groundbreaking milestone made possible through the generous support of the Social Security Commission (SSC).
Equipped with computers and vital digital resources, the centre is set to transform the lives of residents, especially the youth, by bridging the digital divide and positioning Tses as a forward-moving force within the ||Karas Region.
According to the outgoing chairperson of the Tses Village Council, Julian Christiaan, this development marks a turning point for the community.
“We extend our gratitude to the SSC for their support and to all community members for embracing this initiative. Together, we are building stronger, more connected Tses,” he said.
The ICT Centre, operational since 03 October 2025, is already receiving enthusiastic feedback from residents.
Unemployed youth and individuals with little to no ICT background have expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to develop essential digital skills.
Transformative personal development
From typing CVs and applying for jobs to sharpening computer literacy, the centre is quickly becoming a lifeline for many.
Its core objectives include providing ICT training to boost youth employability, assisting learners with research, school assignments, and digital learning, offering residents access to important information and online services, and inspiring entrepreneurship, creativity, and community upliftment.
As the outgoing councillor who helped shepherd this project to life, Christiaan noted that the centre is not just a building it is a gateway to opportunity.
Alongside the centre’s launch, young women from the village recently took part in a transformative personal development and values-based training programme.
The first day, themed “The Foundation,” focused on self-awareness and the discovery of core values.
Through reflective exercises such as “The River of Life,” participants revisited their personal journeys, identified emotional anchors and explored how aligning choices with values can build resilience especially when confronting pressures such as substance abuse.
As the dust settles on the newly opened ICT Centre and the echoes of empowerment linger from the youth workshops, one thing is clear: Tses is not waiting for change it is building it, one skill, one dream and one young mind at a time.
