The Namibia National Olympic Committee proudly congratulates current vice-president and former three-time Olympian, Gaby Ahrens, on her re-appointment to the Athlete Council of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as well as the WADA Foundation Board, effective 1 January 2026.

WADA’s 42-member Foundation Board (Board) is the Agency's highest decision-making body. It is composed equally of representatives from the Sport Movement (Olympic Movement) and Governments (Public Authorities).

Elected by fellow athletes, Ahrens will now serve a three-year term on WADA’s highest governing body, ensuring that athletes’ voices remain central to global anti-doping policy and decision-making.

The NNOC said in its message: “Her appointment reflects the trust placed in her leadership, experience, and unwavering commitment to clean, fair, and ethical sport.

“We are proud to see Namibia continue to strengthen its presence in international sport governance. Athletes remain at the centre of all that we do.”

Ahrens, 44, was a former continental champion in sport shooting that represented her country at the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016. She also won a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

She obtained a master's degree in sports management in 2018 through the International Olympic Committee MEMOS in Lausanne, Switzerland.
