SAD END: Two British nationals who died in a light aircraft crash near the Gobabeb Research Centre in the Namib Desert on Wednesday afternoon have been identified as Alan Martin Wilson (62) and Neil Thomas Oakman (63). Police said Wilson and Oakman, who were in the country to conduct research at Gobabeb, took off in a light aircraft at around 17:00 on Wednesday to search for animal tracking collars in the surrounding dunes. The wreckage of the aircraft was later discovered near the Gobabeb airstrip. Wilson and Oakman were found with fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. Photo: Leandrea Mouers
