Purposeful Living hosts second ‘Dear Woman’ gathering
As Namibia grapples with rapid social and economic change, a renewed call is being made for citizens to embrace purposeful living as a way to navigate uncertainty and build meaningful lives.
This follows reflections by Wilhelmina Sheetekela Malangu, who emphasises that many Namibians are preoccupied with daily survival and future ambitions but often overlook a critical question: whether they are living with intention.
“Purposeful living is about more than routine. It is about knowing who you are and understanding the value you bring to the world,” Malangu says.
She explains that her organisation, Purposeful Living, which was launched in 2025, aims to uplift communities and help individuals discover their God-given purpose.
Through various outreach efforts, the organisation supports vulnerable groups, with a strong emphasis on service as a pathway to purpose.
“By helping others, we begin to understand why we are here,” she says.
Giving is receiving
Malangu notes that funds generated through the organisation’s activities are directed towards community support.
Proceeds from ticket sales at events are used to provide meals for attendees, while donations are channelled towards outreach programmes, including the distribution of lunch packs to street children, support for orphanages and hospital visits.
Malangu adds that faith plays a central role in purposeful living, offering strength, hope and direction, particularly during challenging times.
She highlights that the organisation currently focuses primarily on empowering women.
“At the moment, we are working mostly with women. We have not yet started programmes for men, as we do not have sufficient information on how best to approach that, but it is something we may consider in the future when men become part of the organisation,” she explains.
Upcoming event
As part of its mission, Purposeful Living will host the second edition of its empowerment event, titled 'Dear Woman, Become!', on 20 June at Meita Greenhouse in Ongwediva, starting at 14:00.
The event will address topics such as finding purpose, leadership, academic excellence, financial responsibility, relationships and career development.
Malangu says the event aims to create a platform for women to reflect on their aspirations and take practical steps towards personal growth while contributing positively to their communities. Tickets are currently available, and further information can be obtained from the organisers on 081 730 2372.
