Oshana to host education indaba

The Oshana region will host an education indaba on 9 October aimed at finding practical solutions to improve the quality of education in the region, Oshana governor Hofni Iipinge has announced.The indaba will be held under the theme 'Quality and Smart Education for the Namibian Child in the Oshana Region' and will bring together learners, parents, community leaders, education stakeholders and members of the public.Iipinge made the announcement on Tuesday while officially opening the 2026 Education Conference (Educon) at the Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus of the University of Namibia in Ongwediva.“This is not just a meeting. It is a collective commitment to shaping a better future for the children of Oshana, for Namibia and the world as a whole,” Iipinge said.He called on researchers and academics attending Educon to produce evidence that can assist political leaders in making informed policy and budgetary decisions.“We, political leaders, want to rely on your empirical research to make informed policy and budgetary decisions,” he said.Iipinge said quality education must reach all learners, regardless of gender, disability, geographical location or socioeconomic background.The 2026 Educon is being held under the theme ‘Reimagining and Shaping Education beyond 2030 through Innovation, Inclusivity, Resilience and Sustainability’.Delegates from Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Uganda, Germany, Finland, the United States and China are in attendance.
