Ongwediva satisfied with Efidi water, sewer project

Construction of water supply and sewer reticulation networks in Efidi Extension 3 is progressing well, with the Ongwediva Town Council expressing satisfaction with the pace of work and the quality of work being carried out on site.

The project, which forms part of council’s efforts to improve service delivery and support sustainable urban development, is expected to enhance access to reliable water and sanitation services for residents once completed.

Ongwediva spokesperson Ottilie Shingenge said the project represents a critical investment in the town’s future development.

“The development of water supply and sewer reticulation networks in Efidi Extension 3 is a key component of the council's commitment to improving service delivery and ensuring that residents have access to essential municipal services," she said.

"This infrastructure will not only improve living conditions but also support future residential and economic development within the area."

The project is being undertaken by Ashikuti Construction and Plumbing CC (joint venture) and Up Mark Investment CC, which were contracted by council to develop and install the critical water infrastructure.

As part of its oversight and quality assurance responsibilities, council’s technical team conducted a site inspection last Tuesday to assess progress on the ground and verify compliance with approved specifications and project requirements.

Shingenge said the inspection formed part of the council’s efforts to ensure accountability and maintain high standards throughout the construction process.

“We are pleased with the progress achieved thus far. The contractors are working diligently to ensure that the project is completed according to schedule and in line with the required standards,” Shingenge said.
