Ondangwa hospital revokes Nakanduungile board appointment
Ondangwa Private Hospital (OPH) has revoked the appointment of Pinehas Nakanduungile to its advisory board following two separate arrests in recent months.
Nakanduungile (37) was appointed to the hospital’s advisory board on 1 November 2025. He is the younger brother of controversial Ondangwa-based doctor Fillemon Nakanduungile, also known as ‘Fly’.
Fillemon Nakanduungile was previously dismissed by the same hospital after allegedly accepting payment from an Angolan patient for blood tests and altering another patient’s results to match those of the paying client.
In January, Pinehas Nakanduungile and another suspect, Andreas Johannes Nghivelwambedi, were arrested for allegedly entering Namibia through an ungazetted border point near Okapalelona in the Omusati region.
The incident, which allegedly took place on 22 October 2025, also implicated his brother, who was already in custody at the time on charges related to the fatal attack on late prosecutor Justine Shiweda, who died in February.
The two suspects appeared in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on 20 January.
Second arrest
In February, Nakanduungile was again arrested after police allegedly discovered live ammunition and spent cartridges during a search at his residence in the Onethindi area.
The items reportedly included 39 live rounds of 8 x 68S calibre ammunition, three spent cartridges of the same calibre, 22 live rounds of .308 calibre ammunition, 20 live rounds of 7.62 calibre ammunition, and three live rounds of 7.65 x 9 mm pistol ammunition.
Oshana police regional commander Naftal Lungameni Sakaria said Nakanduungile did not have any firearms registered in his name.
Appointment revoked
OPH director Gerald Chimenya confirmed this week that the hospital moved swiftly to revoke the appointment once the criminal charges became known.
“Ondangwa Private Hospital (Pty) Ltd confirms that on 1 November 2025, it appointed Mr Pinehas Nakanduungile as a member of its advisory board. However, his appointment was still in the process of being formalised at BIPA. Subsequent to his arrest, the appointment was revoked,” Chimenya said.
The hospital declined further comment.
Ongoing criminal case
Nakanduungile’s brother, Fillemon, remains in custody facing multiple charges, including murder.
The charges stem from the brutal attack on Shiweda, who was shot and doused with acid in October 2025.
