The Omuthiya Town Council has warned residents carrying out unauthorised construction to halt work and remove illegal structures.

“Notice is hereby given to all residents residing within the boundaries of Omuthiya who are undertaking illegal construction or have set up illegal structures in Omuthiya to cease all activities and remove the structures immediately,” Martha Andreas, council spokesperson, said.

She reminded residents that approval must be obtained from the local authority before construction projects start.

Failure to comply may result in the demolition of the structure, fines and penalties, as well as possible legal action against offenders.

Residents can contact the council at +264 65 244700 or via email at [email protected] or [email protected] to report illegal construction sites.
