In a moment filled with excitement, celebration and disbelief, 41-year-old Ndahafa Mateus has become the proud owner of a brand-new two-bedroom house valued at N$600 000, thanks to Metro Namibia’s widely celebrated Birthday Promotion.

The life-changing announcement was made on 1 April during the grand finale event held at Osona Village, just outside Windhoek, where three finalists gathered in anticipation of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The finalists were randomly selected from the Metro Rewards system.

Mateus emerged as the winner after successfully unlocking the door to her new home, marking a new chapter in her life. Visibly overwhelmed with gratitude, she described the house as a “true blessing”, especially in today’s challenging economic climate, where owning even a one-bedroom home remains out of reach for many Namibians.

“I am incredibly thankful to Metro Namibia. This home means everything to me,” she said.

The giveaway marked the grand conclusion of Metro Namibia’s Birthday Promotion, which ran from November 2025 to the end of January 2026.

The campaign drew an extraordinary response, generating an impressive 16 million entries through the Metro Rewards Card programme — a clear reflection of the retailer’s strong connection with its customers.

To help the winner settle into her new home, Metro Namibia also included a N$10 000 Metro Home voucher. In addition, the house has been equipped with electrical appliances valued at N$20 000, sponsored by Bennett Read, including a top-loader washing machine, microwave and fridge, making the prize even more valuable.

Runners-up also rewarded

The two runners-up, Cornelia Shilongo and Imanuel Nafuka, did not walk away empty-handed. Each received Metro shopping vouchers valued at N$20 000, along with dual 9L air fryers sponsored by Bennett Read as consolation prizes.

Speaking at the event, Metro Namibia managing director Bryan Davis highlighted the significance of the initiative, describing it as one of the company’s largest and most impactful promotions to date.

“This campaign truly demonstrates the trust and loyalty Namibians have in the Metro brand. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this is our way of saying thank you for their continued support,” he said.

Beyond the grand prize, Metro Namibia rewarded customers across the country throughout the campaign, giving away more than 100 trolley dashes and distributing over N$1.4 million in rewards.

The newly built home in Osona Village offers modern, comfortable living within a fast-growing community. For more information about the Metro Rewards programme and upcoming promotions, customers are encouraged to visit their nearest Metro store or Metro’s social media platforms.
