Femicide-accused ‘Namcash’ bail hearing today
Murder accused forex trader Joseph ‘Namcash’ Nghishihange remains in custody after his formal bail application was postponed, failing to pay his privately appointed lawyer.
Nghishihange, who appeared in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, is accused of murdering his five-year-old daughter Mia Nghishihange.
Yesterday, his lawyer, Tungouwa Ndatewapo of Jacobs Amupolo Lawyers & Conveyancers, said he intends to apply for legal aid for the main criminal proceedings.
Mia died at an Ongwediva hospital on 24 February after he took her there, allegedly with injuries across her body.
Ndatewapo requested that the bail hearing be rolled over to today.
“He has not placed us in funds, but he indicated that the money will be paid today. We apply for the matter to be rolled over for tomorrow,” she said.
Magistrate Nelao Ya France postponed the application as requested and ordered that Nghishihange remain in custody.
Mia was a Grade 1 pupil at a private school in Ongwediva. Her mother, Maceline Cloete, previously alleged that she had suffered physical abuse while in her father’s care.
