This was confirmed by NVF vice-president Hilary Dux Imbuwa at the weekend.
“Through our newly founded alliance with the Swakopmund Indoor Sports Complex, The Dome, we have identified this as the perfect venue for this event,” Imbuwa said.
Approximately 40 clubs with between 300 and 450 participants are expected to participate. The participants will be from 10 countries - Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Namibia, as the host, will have four men''s teams and four women''s teams.
These are all the teams that participated in the semi-finals of the Bank Windhoek NVF Cup. The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Club won the men''s category and Revivals won the women''s category of the Bank Windhoek NVF Cup held in Swakopmund on 1 October.
“Namibia did not proceed to the second round in the Zone 6 Club Championships last year and we hope this time it will be a different ball game,” Imbuwa said. The event will serve as a qualifier tournament for the 2017 African Volleyball Club Championships. The venue for next year''s championships is yet to be decided.
