World-famous stunt cyclist at Tourism Expo
The international top park rider Senad Grosic, who is also an official Red Bull athlete, will be in Namibia next month.
It will be a return to these shores for the Croatian-born Austrian, who will this time perform at the Tourism Expo and Motor Show on June 13 (12:00 and 14:00).
Last year Red Bull brought Grosic to Namibia for the first time.
His popularity has seen him get another invitation to show off his skills at the Tourism Expo.
Although he spent his formative years in Austria, 35-year-old Grosic was actually born in Sisak (former Yugoslavia) and isn’t afraid to take on hard tricks.
In 2008, Grosic turned from competitor to test-track dummy when he took on a 2.9-metre-high ramp being prepared for freestyle motocross.
The Austrian, also called ‘The Senator’ used a coal mine near Riedersbach and his landing hill was a dusty pile of coal.
Since it was impossible to get a running start in the deep coal sand, he used a conveyor belt that was 60m long and 80cm wide to pick up the speed he needed to perform tricks – a back-flip tail and back-flip no-hander.
Grosic first made his mark on the BMX world in 2003, and went on to take the prestigious titles of Austrian King of Dirt and Red Bull Dirt Ride champion in 2004. He continued to compete in contests throughout Europe, and in 2010 completed a tour of Saudi Arabia as an ambassador for his sport.
