Romario Arnat is employed as a software developer at Green Enterprise Solutions

Not expecting to find a smooth and easy way of work, Romario Arnat describes his working experience as an eye-opener as to how the industry really works. He was able to learn that teamwork is what carries a team to work in all aspects.
He explains that at times, people focus a lot on the technical side of things. “We forget that software products are made for humans, by humans.” This, he says, needs to be understood so that soft skills may come into play. “This was made more apparent to me when I began working at Green Enterprise Solutions.”
Fruits of education
Arnat studied computer science at the University of Namibia, and then completed a short online course on web design which was sponsored by the university of London. He obtained two Microsoft certificates, one of which is a Microsoft Azure Associate Developer A-200 and the other a Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps az-400 certificate.
His studies were beneficial to his career, and his career path was relatively straight due to him working in the position he had dreamt of as soon as he was out of university.
Tracking back to his early days in this position, Arnat says the only thorn in his side when working in this industry was not knowing what it takes to be a software developer in the Namibian context. “If you met me at university and asked me to mention two or three tech companies in Namibia, I would have had no clue. This did not stop me, so I kept on pushing,” he said.
Loving the job
From an outside perspective, software and technology can sometimes be seen as very detailed and difficult until it becomes what you love to do. Because Arnat loves what he does, he sails smoothly through his daily tasks. He adds that his work does not only consist of technology, but Green Enterprises Solutions made it possible for him to work to the highest standards, keeping in mind that trial and error are at the core of constant growth and learning.
He adds that the job is very rewarding, not only in terms of technical but also personal skills. When Arnat is not busy with technology, he enjoys writing for a football blog, watching and performing comedy.
