Worker dies in truck tragedy

21 November 2019 | Accidents

A 28-year-old charcoal worker died instantly Tuesday morning after he fell off a moving truck, which allegedly then drove over him.

Otjozondjupa police spokesperson Inspector Maureen Mbeha confirmed yesterday that the incident had occurred at Farm Bergershof in the Otavi district. The truck was driven by a 53-year-old male co-worker.

“The incident occurred around 11:00, while the deceased and the truck driver were both at work on the farm,” Mbeha said.

His next of kin have not yet been informed about the incident.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened against the driver at the Otavi police station and police investigations continue.
