Winless Desert Rollers continue downward spiral
It was a nightmare for the Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) outfit Desert Rollers, who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Young African FC on Saturday afternoon. The match took place at Gobabis’s Legare Stadium and was Rollers’ eleventh consecutive defeat in this league. As a result they are at the bottom of the SSFD without any points. They conceded 39 goals in eleven matches and have scored only 7. If they continue this poor performance, Rollers will lose their place in the SSFD at the end of the season. Next weekend Rollers are facing Bee Bob Brothers, who lost 2-1 to Flamingos, in the Bidvest Namibia Cup preliminary matches that will be taking place at Mariental. Flamingos moved to the top of the SSFD after Kaizen Football Academy (KFA) lost their game to Windhoek United 2-1 at the Ramblers Stadium. Before these matches, KFA were at the top of the league, sharing points with Flamingos who had an inferior goal difference. Flamingos have moved up to 24 points, while KFA slipped to second spot with 21 points. The Keetmanshoop-based Try Again missed the chance of moving to the second place after they lost 2-0 to Young Brazilian FC and they remain in third place with 20 points, while Brazilians moved to the fifth place with 16 points. The league will take a break this weekend due to the preliminary games of the Bidvest Namibia Cup.
