Williams shines for Nam
Team Namibia is somehow getting better with each match they play this year.
Namibia's cricket national team gave a good account of themselves when they played in South Africa against Boland at Paarl over the weekend.
Their best player of the match was Graig Williams who performed beyond expectations in the tournament.
Williams scored a century for Namibia in the three-day cricket match.
Williams (152 not out) and Jan Frylinck (70) built a partnership of 128 runs before Namibia declared its second innings on 326 for seven.
The home team set a winning target of 356 runs and batted aggressively at 5.33 per over,
The club however, also lost seven wickets as they finished the third day on 288/7.
Earlier in the match, Windhoek Gymnasium school boy Lo-han Louwrens (110) scored his maiden first-class century during Namibia's first innings.
The player was impressive as the rest of team also showed why the country is among the top Africa when it comes to the game.
The national cricket team has been known for producing fine youngsters over the years.
The cricket bosses are trying hard to bring grassroots development in the country.
The game in the country is mostly common among whites given that black people prefer to play football
A fan of the national team Mike Ita said that he was happy with the way the country is playing lately.
“It is always good news to hear that our players are advancing and are more competitive now.
“What William did over the weekend was beautiful because he was shining.
“I love cricket and will be glad if more black people show their interest in the sport,” Ita said.
The fan has also lauded the cricket administrators for empowering women's cricket in the country.
He feels that this would keep children away from the streets if they stay committed.
“Parents must realise that football is not the only sport code in the country.
“Cricket can also earn you money and therefore people must change their away of thinking.
“Women are now also making it in the cricket industry because of the desire and love to succeed in the game.
