Westphalia beat Namibia Under-17
Namibia's national under-17 football team was beaten 2-1 by the visiting Westphalia U-17 team in their second and final match of the visitors' tour at the Namibian Newspaper Cup in Mariental on Saturday.
Westphalia scored through their first real attack when Tim Janke found the back of the net from inside the 18-yard area.
The Namibians, who were physically smaller than their German counterparts, seemed to struggle to contain Janke, who gave the home side's defenders a torrid time with his speed.
In the 15th minute Janke headed over the bar from a free kick before hitting the side net two minutes later.
Namibia finally settled and started building from the back and Prins Tjiueza's shot was parred for a corner kick by Leon Klubmann in goals for Westphalia.
From the resultant corner, the Germans failed to clear the ball and it fell to Enzo Ganas, whose shot was turned into the back of the net by Jano Marpe to make it 1-1.
The last piece of action in the first half saw Promise Gurirab shoot over as both sides settled for an even half-time score.
Tjiueza could have doubled the home side's lead in the first minute of the first half, but his effort was easily dealt with by Klubmann.
From there on the Germans took over the proceedings and created several chances which they failed to convert.
Ole Hoch then cracked his effort against the cross bar while Captain Ansgar Knauff twice shot wide.
The winning goal however came five minutes from the end of regulation time when Phil Harres acrobatically finished off a cross from Hanri-Franck Ariel Tehe.
The win by Westphalia was their second, having drawn with Omaheke's Under-20 regional team before hammering the Baby Warriors 4-0 in Windhoek at the Technical Centre.
The German team leaved Sunday for their home country after a successful tour to Namibia.
