Westair rebrands in a show of commitment

Westair Aviation announced the rebranding of its airline to FlyNamibia earlier this week.Speaking at the event, FlyNamibia chairperson Wolfgang Grellmann said he hoped for the airline to remain an industry leader in Namibia. “At Westair Aviation we have always been and will always aim to set the standard for aviation in Namibia. Now that role takes on a whole new dimension as we set our sights even higher, dream even bigger and embark on a journey that will not only broaden our own horizons, but hopefully that of the country in which we live, operate, hope and dream,” he says. Grellmann hopes that the rebranding will serve as a sign of the airline’s commitment to the country. “As Namibia’s largest aviation organisation, we accept our responsibility to grow and develop aviation in Namibia. We also acknowledge and accept the responsibility to contribute toward the development of the Namibian economy. This is especially important in a post-Covid environment. Our contribution is to enable these connections for business, for families, for government and most crucially for the travel and tourism sector.”This commitment is further proven by the launch of the company’s bursary scheme that will aim to provide the youth with the necessary skills to create a flourishing aviation sector in Namibia. “Our vision is that if we grow our skills base of Namibian aviation professionals this will result in Namibia becoming completely self-sufficient in terms of providing specialised aviation services.”FlyNamibia hopes to positively contribute to rehabilitation of the Namibian economy in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. In line with this, FlyNamibia also launched their brand-new Safari schedule. From April 2022, FlyNamibia will operate daily flights between Windhoek, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund and Etosha as well as flights between Katima Mulilo and Victoria Falls. “This schedule is crucial to assist the Namibia tourism sector to recover. This schedule enables the Namibian the launch of the new brand, Westair Aviation hopes to establish a carrier in Namibian and African skies that a nation can be proud of. With an ethos based on the concept of Ubuntu, which is celebrated across the continent, FlyNamibia aims to be a beacon that connects Namibia as a community with the rest of the world, and helps bring the world to Namibia so that we can showcase how unique and truly special we are as a destination.”
