WINDHOEK
Windhoek High School (WHS) powered to a comfortable 26-0 win over Technical High School (HTS) in a friendly rugby match at the HTS field on Saturday.
WHS scored four tries in the match. Exciting flyhalf Geraldo Beukes scored one try and three conversions, bringing his tally to 11 points.
Prop Filipus Iyambo, centre Edward Turner and left wing Quirone Majiedt also added their names to the scoresheet. There were a lot of handling errors from team HTS.
They gave away the ball too easily and this eventually resulted in their loss.
Captains showed character
Captain Uaenena Kavetuna said the loss would not deter them from the team which they want to build.
'We learned a lot from the match. The loss is just a small hurdle for us. I'm really proud of my teammates as they gave our opponents a great run for their money,' he said.
The match was both schools' first outing due to the interruption of Covid-19.
Daniel Opperman, the captain of HTS, said it was a very tough match but that HTS gave them something to play for.
'We used this match to work on several of our playing strategies. So we will now continue building on those. This was a great match, and great memories build through it as well,' he said.
