We asked the youth how this year took a toll on the goals they had wanted to achieve.

Tuilika AndreasThis year has been characterised by a lot of uncertainty. Initially, I had a lot of plans laid out, particularly activities I wanted to take part in and challenges I wanted to take on. It turned out to be a year of character building and choice testing. I would not say a lot of my goals were negatively affected, but they were certainly trialled and tested for the sake of necessity and importance.Paulina HambataThe only drawback was the decreased opportunity to learn the vital practical skills in my medical profession. Nonetheless, this year allowed me to delve deeper into my existence. Spending time alone with myself has allowed me to deal with buried emotions and unhealthy habits.Undjakuje KandjouThe year 2020 has been tough, to be honest. I had loads of goals set for this year but I'll only mention two. I wanted to be part of our school choir and eventually end up as a co-conductor and I was hoping our school would hold a prize-giving ceremony so we could see our achievements from last year.Aletta NekwayaThis year stalled my goals because I had to be confined in my house, because of the pandemic going on in the world, but on the bright side I was left with nothing to do, so I figured, why not learn new skill sets?Nelago JohannesA lot of unlearning and difficult adjustments had to be made. The importance of utilising my digitisation skills has redirected me towards methodologies of strategic thinking that I’d initially not have opted for had it not been for the negative impact of quarantine on me.Vision TobiasAcademically, I haven’t reached the goals I had set for myself at the beginning of the year because of all the rapid adjustments I had to adapt to school. But socially, this year has given me so much time to introspect and consequently become a better version of myself, which has been one of my greatest goals to ever achieve.
