‘We are a party for all’ – Swartbooi

Elizabeth Joseph KEETMANSHOOPThe Landless People’s Movement (LPM) hosted its last mass rally before the elections, set for 25 November. Leader Bernardus Swartbooi and his delegation of constituency leaders came together to engage residents at the J Stefanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop on Sunday, where masses gathered to hear the politician speak.“Thank God we are not a party where one is against the other, but rather a party for all, for a future we all deserve so that our children can live a life of prosperity and the life they deserve,” Swartbooi said.He congratulated the youth of the //Karas Region, saying they have taught him more than they know and that they should be ready and stand firm to fight for the democracy of Namibia when the time comes. ‘Young people have reshaped me’“It is the young people who have reshaped me, my politics and my understanding of the world. This country requires a leadership that understands the issues of the day.“Gone are the days for leaders of the 90s and early 2000s. The time has come for the leaders of 2020 and beyond.” Swartbooi proclaimed.The party president said just because a leader is a specialist of the past doesn’t mean they can shape the future.The LPM youth league reacted with vigour, saying they owe their positions in society to their leader.The youth also made a windmill, the main symbol on the party emblem, and gifted it to Swartbooi.The party leader said the state of government institutions like hospitals is representative that democracy is done for.“Once representative democracy is broken, African countries start civil wars. Nation-building has failed in this country, allowing for the failure of state buildings,” he said. – elizabeth@myzone.com.na
