Wasserfall murder accused plead not guilty

LEANDREA@REPUBLIKEIN.COM.NAWALVIS BAYAzaan Madisia and her brother Steven Mulundu, who are accused of murdering Shannon Wasserfall, both pleaded not guilty to the charge in the Walvis Bay magistrate’s court on Wednesday.Magistrate Vicky Nicolaidis postponed the case to 3 March 2022 for the prosecutor-general’s decision.The two remain in custody. Their bail application will be heard on 23 November 2021.ChargesBoth Madisia and Mulundu were charged with murder and defeating or obstructing the course of justice.Madisia also faces two additional charges of fraud, alternatively theft. These charges involve an Acer laptop and an iPhone XR which Madisia allegedly reported stolen and claimed reimbursement for from her insurance. She received N$6 500 for the laptop and N$14 290 for the iPhone.State prosecutor Maggy Shiyagaya said the murder charge stems from the killing of Shannon Wasserfall (22) between 10 and 11 April 2020 in Kuisebmond.“The charge related to defeating or obstructing the course of justice is that the accused persons, between 10 April and 6 October, unlawfully removed the deceased’s body from the main accused’s residence to an area near Dunes Mall.“They also threw away or destroyed the deceased’s cellphone, SIM card, a blue jacket and scarf, and then reported to the local police, both orally and through a written statement, that the deceased had left the residence of the main accused and never returned.”Madisia was the number one suspect implicated in the disappearance of Shannon Wasserfall, whose remains were found on 6 October 2020 in a shallow grave in Walvis Bay after the police had received a tip-off. Wasserfall had gone missing from Kuisebmond on 10 April 2020.Mulundu was arrested in November 2020 after he surrendered himself to the police. He allegedly stated that he had helped Madisia to dispose of Wasserfall’s body.
