It is a do-or-die fixture and only three points will work for Namibia's Brave Warriors as they battle the Taija Stars of Tanzania in their second encounter of the Chan competition at the Limbe Stadium tomorrow at 21:00.

Bobby Samaria will be hoping that his charges will be wide awake following a poor display which saw them caught napping on several occasions in their 3-0 defeat to Guinea in Cameroon.

It is however a different day with different opponents who play different from the West African side that outpowered Namibia on Tuesday.

Namibia opted to start with a lone striker in their first match and it cost them dearly as the West Africans had little to worry about in their defence, making it easy for them to attack.

Samaria did try and twist the formation in the second half against Guinea, putting on an extra man forward and this provided his midfielders with more options.

Former Black Africa captain Marvin Katire is encouraging Samaria to begin with a much more attacking formation than he did against Guinea.

“We really need him to come up with a formation that will allow the team to play with two strikers.

“This is a match that we have to go all out and try and get that victory at all cost.

“Players must also not be afraid because they really do not have anything to lose at the moment,” Katire said.

The group stats

Guinea currently leads group D with three points, followed by Zambia, also on three points. Tanzania are in third spot given that they conceded two goals in their opening match, while Namibia are at the bottom of the table due to their inferior goal difference.

Namibia will be hoping to beat Tanzania while a victory for Guinea over Zambia will set up an interesting final tie between Namibia and Zambia.

A victory for Guinea and Namibia will mean that the Brave Warriors can advance to the next stage of the competition if they happen to beat Zambia in their final group match slated for 27 January.

Everything to play for

Brave Warriors interim coach Bobby Samaria says there is still hope for the team to progress to the next stage.

“We still believe that we can get a positive result against Tanzania on Saturday.

“I am not blaming anyone for Tuesday's result because this is a team effort and we win or lose together.

“The message I am conveying is that we can create an opportunity for ourselves if we beat Tanzania,” Samaria said.
