Widespread rainfall over most parts of the country at the weekend brought some relief from the extremely hot temperatures Namibians have been experiencing since the beginning of the year.
As most towns received the first rains for the year, Namibians rejoiced in the hope that this will be another good rainy season.
But the Namibia Meteorological Service has warned that heavy rain is possible in the extreme north-east for the rest of the week and that residents should take the necessary precautions.
At Katima Mulilo, flooding occurred over the weekend after the town received 89 mm of rain on Thursday, 31 mm on Friday and 89 mm on Saturday.
LandWater also warned that heavy thunderclouds are building up over central to northern Namibia.
