Namibia's 2020 Olympic hopeful Michele Vorster narrowly escaped death when she was hit by a car on Saturday.
Vorster and her husband, Johan Vorster, were cycling side by side in the breakdown lane between Brakwater and Windhoek when a car hit her.
“The next minute I just heard a massive explosion on my right and Michelle landed on me and we fell to the left on the tar and ended in the gravel,” Johan posted on Facebook.
“My first impression when I looked up was of my wife lying dead still on her side.
“I thought the worst. Jumped to her and yelled her name... After about 10-15 seconds she moved and reacted,” he wrote.
Vorster suffered a broken elbow, broken ankle and major bruising.
By Saturday afternoon, Johan Vorster posted that his wife was out of danger and had to go for surgery.
“Thank you for so much help, messages and prayers. Our hearts are full of appreciation of your amazing love,” he wrote.
