Vaalgras land disparities
Native Watchdog writes;
As much as I fail to understand the allocation of land at Vaalgras, I am astonished by the handling thereof. Some people who did not even apply for land and who do not even own a single chicken are allocated land because they are kith and kin of some deposed leaders.
Others benefit from nepotism, favouritism and factionalism.
A few others including traditional councillors invaded Farm Haichas under the guise of a non-existing women's project.
The farm was bought as a resettlement farm to be consolidated into Vaalgras communal land about two to three years ago.
Up to now there are no exact guidelines and rules as to how to deal with the situation and that is surprising.
The situation is being impeded by the deliberate delays by Minister Charles Namoloh. I am wondering how much time he needs to deal with the de-gazetting and gazetting exercise.
I wonder why he is withholding Tjirije Commission's report. It is almost a year now. Secondly, I bemoan and deplore the Lands Ministry's inability to chase the invaders out of Haichas.
An investigation commission was sent to Vaalgras in early January and a disciplinary hearing conducted in May, which did not yield the any results.
The deposed leaders attack each but they tell others to move around in the communal area without their permission.
Where do we draw the line?
I am afraid that the current status quo may encourage landless would be offenders to invade the farm forcefully.
The deposed leadership are illegally operating on the support, mercy and protection of Minister Namoloh.
The latter is being influenced and abetted by his ex-cabinet college to sow division.
We should not forget what happened at the recent Swapo Electoral College.
Many old guards were hurt there, which might have negative spillovers in the country.
That is why we have been entrusting the organs of the State to intervene in this delicate matter to avert a possible tribal conflict and further division in the interest of peace, unity and tranquillity.
