Three rapes on Monday night
A Rundu toddler drowned in pooled water from a blocked shower in the Ndama location at the town in the Kavango East Region on Monday evening.
According to the police's crime report, the child was identified as Muleka Elina Penehafo Namupasita, a 14-month-old baby that was left to play alone in the house.
The report states that the child's mother searched for her and eventually found the body in the water.
In a separate incident, a 57-year-old woman was raped by a 27-year-old man in a riverbed in the Otjimbingwe district of the Erongo Region on Monday evening. The police say the suspect reportedly told the victim to accompany him to the police station where her son was reportedly detained.
“The victim and her two granddaughters, aged 11 and 12, agreed to go the police station in the company of the suspect and while they were crossing the Swakop River the suspect allegedly held the victim at knife point and raped her.
“The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue,” the report states.
Meanwhile, in the //Karas Region a 32- year-old lady was raped by a male suspect at the Farm Barbie, in the Bethanien District.
The suspect reportedly broke into the house using an unknown object to forcefully open the door of the room where the victim was sleeping.
He reportedly demanded money and valuable items before raping her and fleeing the scene.
The suspect is still at large and police investigations continue.
In a separate incident a 25-year-old female was raped by a 28-year-old man that is said to have entered her room while she was asleep.
The incident took place at the Goas location in Khorixas in the Kunene Region. The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.
