The dos and don'ts for debut artists

Celeb Talk Zenao: PR manager With so much drama happening in our music industry, it's important for a debut artist to have a checklist of what to do and what not to do. Steps to recording your first song Today, I'm going to guide you through your first steps in recording and hopefully, leave you with the knowledge and skills you will need to grow your music career and become that artist with the wow factor. As a recording artist, you need to take your listeners on some kind of journey through your music. You need to structure your songs on your album. There needs to be a beginning, middle and end. If you don't have this habit already, then it's worth starting now. Lyrical content The reason you step in front of a mic, is because you have something to say to the people of the world. You need to ask yourself, what is it that you want to communicate and how do you want to communicate it? What language do you want to use and what creative style do you want to use? Voice Before considering going to the studio, do you actually know how to sing, and if yes, did you go for voice training? Does your voice complement the type of genre you want to sing? What is unique about your voice? Budget They say good ideas cost money and so does a dream. We have the freedom to come up with good ideas and the freedom to dream, but we need money to bring that idea or dream to life. Do you have enough studio money for the number of songs you want to record and for duplicating your album? Studio/producer The producer you work with is very important. Can this producer help you express yourself in the way you would like to be presented to the public? Does he understand your style and your vision for your music? Does his studio have a good set-up, including good sound and microphones? My advice to you is that, it's best to start small and build. Start with one song, furnish it and make sure you get a small group of people with honest opinions to judge and review you song before taking it out there to be played by radio stations.
