AA Namibia currently has 800 members and is known for championing the safety of all road users in Namibia through its various programmes, ranging from vehicle inspections to activations on highways and roads where fatal accidents are prevalent. Apart from being at the forefront of road safety, AA Namibia offers a wide range of services which in total adds up to 14 quality and dedicated services. Their service provider partners range from auto body repairs, vehicle maintenance and repair centres to auto electricians, locksmiths, accessory fitment centres as well as a number of specialist repair centres and tracking and towing services. They also provide driving lessons and help Namibian drivers acquire international driving permits and the Carne De Passage documents for those moving their vehicles into Namibia or out of Namibia. VisionAA Namibia want to be the leading preferred choice of the motoring community for mobility solutions. The company aims to expand its services to a broader and wider range of Namibians. The firm further looks to provide innovative motoring solutions to its members and road users, ensure vehicle safety through vehicle inspection in accordance with best practice and to provide benefits and discounts to its members.Giving back to the community Under the current leadership of Hilen Tjivikua, the managing director of AA Namibia, the company has thrived and increased its capacity when advocating for road safety. Road safety is central to the vision and mission of AA Namibia as the company’s mission is to advocate for road safety through smart partnerships with both local and international safety groups. AA Namibia recently launched the #ISeeYou campaign which looked to increase the safety of road users, with the prime focus being on pedestrians. The campaign aims to raise awareness of dangers on the road and looks to equip pedestrians with road education the safety. The campaign has been distributing reflective sashes to pedestrians and learners that make use of the road. The sashes are worn by learners and pedestrians to make them more visible to drivers when they make use of the road. AA is currently preparing a harmonisation driving behaviour change called the Festive Season Road Safety kick -off soccer match between Traffic law enforcement officials and the Taxi driver to start on the 20th November 2021. Information will be shared. Tjivikua adds that as the managing director of AA Namibia, making Namibian roads safer is one of her top priorities and that she is well underway with making Namibian roads safer. “I love reading a lot about road safety and constantly do research on how other countries are making their roads better and safer,” she says. As for the next 5-10 years AA, want to work alongside the government to help regulate Driving Schools in Namibia, ensure that imported vehicles are well regulated for safety checks before they are used on our Namibian roads International AA Namibia is affiliated to the Federation International the Automobiles (FIA), a non-profit association that was established in 1904. The FIA is the governing body and structure of motorsports and world championships worldwide and has about 60 million road and track members from 230 member clubs in 114 countries around the world.
