Teen in court again after deadly crash
The case against the teenager, who is accused of killing a Windhoek City Police officer and two civilians while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, was yesterday postponed to 22 August by the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.
The investigations into the case against Morne Mouton are yet to be finalised, the court was told yesterday.
“The matter is on court roll for further investigations. The investigations are not yet finalised,” prosecutor Erastus Hatutale informed the court.
City Police officer, Constable Manfred Gaoseb, as well as Joshua Ngenokesho and Werner Simon died after a speeding car, allegedly driven by the accused, crashed into them in July last year.
According to police reports, two City Police officers were on a routine crime patrol, when they received a callout to attend to a housebreaking.
On their way to the scene, the officers stopped when they saw three men walking in the dark, while a car was parked on the other side of the street.
While the City Police officers were questioning the men, a speeding car approached and crashed into them.
One of the City Police officers and one of the men being questioned escaped unharmed.
Magistrate Alweendo Sebby Venatius yesterday postponed the case against Mouton to 22 August for further investigations.
The accused, who is free on N$6 000 bail, was warned to be present on that date.
