We got to know him as the Mshasho golden boy with sick dance moves that will leave you speechless; we got to respect him for being a loyal to his master, Mr Dogg and now we love him for breaking out of his ‘shy shell’ with his killa track Sabi, and we shall surely adore him as he comes out with a new name. Yes it’s Chester… Chester House Prince. Tjil had a sit down with the new house kid on the block on the transition from being in the background to being in the forefront with people in his background. Chester says dancing has always been in his blood. His inspiration came from the king of pop Michael Jackson and from his mom as well, as she has some sick moves herself. He has danced for other big names such as Gazza and Killa B before he joined the Mshasho army. “I was 15 years old when Dogg first approached me to dance for him. I told him he had to ask my mom for permission. He then said to me that he will come back for me when I’m a bit grown. In 2005 the Dogg came back for me. He told my mom that he will take care of me and make sure that I stayed in school. Ever since then I haven’t looked back. The first time was nerve-wracking dancing for a big name but exciting at the same time. His fans accepted and loved me.”Chester becoming an artist himself was something that was seen before it became a reality. “I was always fascinated when I saw The Dogg do music. He told me that one day I will be able to do music if I keep an eye on him and learn. My first feature was on the Christmas album, Elvo, Dogg and Samuele aka Qondja were there too and they encouraged me to sing. I was a bit shy but the reception was warm and loving. I would go home and look at myself in the mirror, imagining myself on stage performing. I got over my fears and I am now a musician. I gave myself the name House Prince because Chester is my dancer name now. Now that I sing too my new identity is Chester House Prince. I look up to Chris Brown and Cassper Nyovest because they were all dancers before music. My favourite song is Feeling the Boy which is on my album that is coming out soon. For a good ten years Chester has been a ride or die with Dogg who he said is an amazing person who always advises and encourages him. “I’ve been through a lot for him and I have been through a lot with him. People have said ridiculous things about him that are crazy but I still look up to him, he’s my role model. He wishes me the best and that’s what he wants for me. I don’t ever plan on leaving Mshasho. Mshasho is home.June Shimuoshili
