FNB Western Suburbs made a big jump to second place on the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) premier league log on Saturday, running away to a 82-7 win against bottom team - and defending champions from 2019 - Trustco United.
The Khomasdal outfit was already in full control by halftime, having scored four tries, which were all converted by fly-half Justin Nel. Nel had an excellent day off the kicking tee, succeeding with 11 out of 12 conversion kicks, many of which were from the touchlines.
Suburbs wing and captain Gino Wilson scored two tries, in addition to further scored by fellow wing Dumarcho Hartung (two), as well as teammates AJ Kearns (scrumhalf, two), centres Morgan Esterhuizen and Mbimbo Mbai, eighthman Tjingairi Katjivi as well as replacements Vakomboka Kamboo, PJ Walters and Deveroux Jansen.
For United, with a number of frontline players absent due to injury or work commitments, it was a struggle containing the tempo of Western Suburbs in their return to play after the Covid-19 third wave lockdown.
