Stolen computers not yet recovered

22 October 2019 | Crime

There is still no trace of a private security guard who worked at the Klein Kuppe Private School at Ongwediva, where 32 laptops and a scanner worth N$140 000 were stolen last month.

The police have requested the help of the public in tracing the equipment and the security guard. According the police, it is suspected that the theft took place during the night of 28 September but it was only noticed the next day.

“The school has a private security guard whom we could not find since Sunday. The lab is connected to an alarm system but it did not go off when laptops were stolen,” school principal Isabel Miguel told Namibian Sun. Oshana police spokesperson Inspector Tomas Aiyambo appealed to the public to assist with any information they have. “We have people who remove laptop passwords and we are appealing to them to tip us off if people approach them for assistance.

“If there are people out there who have seen people loading or offloading laptops they must also contact us. To those who buy stolen items, you better not do it and just report the sellers to police because if we find you with stolen items, you are an accomplice to theft and we can arrest you as well,” said Aiyambo.
