She’s all for women
Loide Nantinda is a writer, actress, and a model.
She attended film school in Cape Town South Africa where she majored in acting. She has also appeared on South Africa TV shows like Generations and Stokvel.
She started training and interning for various organisations in New York like Embracing Artists New York that has helped shaped her behind-the-camera skills, writing and managing her own career as a business. “I have gone on employment exile because I don’t want to sit at home on my degree.
The film industry is not taken seriously in Namibia at all and that is just sad.
I also didn’t want to end up as a waitress because I know of what I’m capable of doing with my God-given talent and I want to show people that a small town country girl can do it.” Loide initiated a project which she is currently working on.
The project, Our Likeness, sees her documenting the likeness (identity) of women through the unity in the relationship of sisterhood in 15 different countries worldwide. Our Likeness has a social media following on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
There is also a gofundme account link on all platforms that has brought in some revenue thus far.
Loide started filming in Namibia as the first destination with Himba women to jumpstart the project.
“I started at home because I need them to see what creativity we as actors and directors have and also what we can achieve.
I would also like to be funded first at home because I go out there.
If there is anybody who would like to come on board with funding they will be more than welcomed.”
Loide will live with a family among the women completely immersed into their way of life as a sister (sibling).
This means she dresses, eats and practices whatever way their daily lives in that home and community is run. During this process the ‘likeness’ of each woman’s community visited is an inevitable resulting visual magical story that she believes will reveal the true essence and identity of the woman.
“Our likeness is about going back to re-learn and remember what a woman really is.”
There are questions and issues Loide will discuss and she anticipates that the women will show her things in a different light women worldwide never considered or perceived based on the limited perception we have of each other. It exposes women’s issues in a different but empowering light.
Loide believes women will recognise and become more self aware despite the cultural, religious and social quirks that still seem to oppress our minds.
Our likeness is about the feminine identity... at the end we see what we look ‘like’.
Loide believes knowing and remembering who we are as women is the root solution to women’s issues.
Whilst this documentary is rooted in the feminine identity there are themes and issues Loide will discuss and address with the help of her female guests.
The 15 countries that are to be visited by Loide include Ghana, Ethiopia, Morocco, Nauru China, India, Philippines, Russia, Finland, Iceland, Brazil, Mexico, Iran and the USA.
She chose these countries based on the amazing history of the women there and the different political and religious ‘diversity’ they all practice.
Most of the contacts and research done is through the embassies of these countries and expected collaboration with their ministries of tourism and media.
Loide will be running an online competition and she will select on female from Namibia who is over 18 years of age to accompany her to one of the countries as a guest on the segment.
One has to write a motivational letter as to why they are the right candidate, email it to [email protected] and like all the social media pages at Our Likeness documentary.
