Sanlam appoints new Comms manager
Sanlam Namibia has announced the recent promotion of Ilke Platt-Akwenye from senior marketing and communications consultant, to manager of the department.
In her new role, Platt will be responsible for the overall internal and external branding of the company, stakeholder engagements, market research, corporate social investments, and marketing and communications. She will also be responsible for financial literacy awareness at the local financial services group.
Platt-Aweneye boasts with over eight years in the public relations and communications sector, and over 13 years’ experience in the broadcasting industry.
She is also the current chair elect of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (Prisa) Namibia, and is currently in the process of completing a Master’s in Communications at the University of Namibia (Unam).
“Your career is about empowering yourself academically and always allowing yourself to learn more,” Platt-Akwenye said of her new post.
“Working within the communications department at Sanlam, my thesis will focus on the philosophy, approach and execution of corporate social investment to ensure recipients’ self-sustainability.”
