SABC TV presenter Vuyo Mbuli dies

Johannesburg SABC People within and outside the media industry are continuing to pay tribute to popular radio and television presenter Vuyo Mbuli. He died in a Bloemfontein hospital on Saturday at the age of 46. Mbuli collapsed while watching a rugby match between the Cheetahs and the Reds at the Free State stadium. Friends, fans and colleagues are in shock as they woke up to the news that Mbuli had died. The Executive Producer for SABC2's Morning Live television programme, Thando Maseko, says Mbuli will be greatly missed. A colleague and long-time friend, Manana Makhanya, says Mbuli displayed his true self on both television and radio throughout the many years that she has worked with him. He and I have known each other since the mid-90s when we were both appointed on Safm initially and we became part of the same team that conceptualised and started Morning Live. I can really say that what people saw on TV, the proficiency, the manner in which he interacts with everyone, that's the real Vuyo . Mbuli collapsed while watching rugby at the Free State Stadium on Saturday night. He was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Mediclinic hospital in the city, it was reported. A family spokesperson told the SABC that the cause of death had not yet been determined. The spokesperson requested that the family's privacy be respected as they tried to come to terms with the tragedy.
