Retirement experts to meet
The Retirement Funds Institute of Namibia is having its annual retirement fund conference at The Dome in Swakopmund today and tomorrow.
The event, with the theme 'Contemporary Developments in the Local Retirement Funds Industry', is expected to attract around 130 delegates drawn from pension funds trustees, administrators, asset managers, consultants and regulators.
The minister of finance, Calle Schlettwein, will deliver the keynote speech, while the mayor of Swakopmund, Pauline Ndahafa Nashilundo, and the governor of Erongo Region, Cleophas Mutjavikua, will welcome the delegates.
“In line with our revised strategic thrust of becoming relevant to our members and other stakeholders, we have taken a decision to take this year's event to Erongo Region. We expect that the event will be bigger and better,” RFIN said in a statement.
The conference will address a number of trending and pertinent issues like public-private partnerships, infrastructure investing, pension fund governance, the FIM Bill, the regulatory levy structure, the Moody's credit downgrade, geopolitics, responsible pension fund administration and sustainability of pension funds.
“The conference seeks to look at how the retirement fund sector can responsibly respond to socio-economic, geopolitical, legal and other challenges impacting the industry. The conference resolutions are expected to help chart the future of the industry,” the statement read.
The conference is sponsored by Kuleni Fund Administrators, Standard Bank Namibia, Ino Harith Capital as platinum sponsors, Ino Harith Capital as gold sponsor while RisCura Consulting and Allan Gray Namibia are the silver sponsors.
