Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five wraps up at the Coast
On Saturday, the final qualifier of the Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five took place in the coast.
The road to Brazil has been paved for the top 16 teams; now the search is on for the team that will represent Namibia at the world final.
The qualifier kicked off in the morning with 20 teams battling it out for the top five spot going through to the final.
The day was filled with fast paced and technical football. The 20 teams went head to head in the group stages, fighting for their spot at the national final, set to take place on 27 April at the FIFA for Hope Stadium in Windhoek. The tournament heated up during the knock out stages as the teams fought for their slot at the national final. Dream Team took the title of the coastal champion with a 3-0 win against SFC Experience.
Red Bull brand manager Nadja Geiger said: “We have seen amazing football talent at all of the qualifiers around Namibia and it will be interesting to see who will take the title in the final.'
The winning teams from the coast and the north will be brought to Windhoek where they will go head to head against the top 16 teams in Namibia. The world final is set to take place in July in Brazil where teams from all around the world will have the chance to battle it out for the World Champion title as well as the opportunity to play against Neymar Jr himself.
Thanks to the partners Snickers, Fresh FM, GIZ, FLI, Shoprite and NBC, Red Bull has been able to put this tournament together as a platform for the Namibian youth to showcase their football talent.
