Rapes and murders mar weekend
Two rapes, a murder and a robbery were reported to the police over the weekend.

A 34-year-old pregnant woman was raped at Groot-Aub around 02:00 on Saturday morning.
A 12-year-old girl was raped on different occasions by a patron of her grandmother’s shebeen where he would order a drink and invite the girl to accompany him to his house.
According to the police, the 37-year-old man repeated this a number of times and eventually the matter was reported to the police on Saturday, 18 December 2021.
Meanwhile, at Walvis Bay on Saturday evening, the owner of Buffalo Private Security Company witnessed a robbery in which a man was attacked and robbed of his cell phone by five assailants. The security officer fired warning shots and hit one of the suspects with the second round.
“It is alleged that the four other suspects fled the scene and that the stolen Samsung Galaxy J5 was found lying next to the victim and a brown-handled Okapi knife in his trouser pocket.”
In a separate incident, the body of 58-year-old Erst Jan Johannes Gerstze was found hanging from a tree at the Bloedrivier location at Koës in the //Karas Region.
It is alleged that the deceased had a fight with his girlfriend, whom he stabbed with a knife before fleeing and hanging himself with a wire. No suicide note was found.
At Ondangwa, the police are investigating the murder-suicide of 26-year-old Selma Ruben, who was allegedly shot by her boyfriend, a police reservist, with a 9mm Makarov pistol. The man then shot himself in the head.
