Rapes and murders continue unabated

Sexual assaults of minor girls were rife over the past week.

At Rehoboth, a 67-year-old taxi driver was arrested after he picked up three sisters, aged six, seven and nine, from a school and took them to his house where he allegedly performed indecent acts with them.

According to the police the incident occurred last week between Monday and Thursday. The suspect has been arrested and charged under the Combating of Immoral Practices Amendment Act.

In another incident a 61-year-old man was arrested at Omufituwenghete village in the Omusati Region for allegedly raping and impregnating his minor daughter in January this year.

A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men at Shighuru village in the Kavango East Region last Wednesday. One of the suspects was arrested.

On Saturday a 22-year-old woman was raped by two unknown men in Mondesa, Swakopmund.

Also on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy allegedly raped a 21-year-old pregnant woman at Epukiro in the Omaheke Region.

At Aroab, a 58-year-old man was arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping a minor girl between May 2014 and May 2018.

A man raped a 12-year-old girl at the Camp 5 location in Outjo between Monday and Tuesday last week. According to the police the suspect is known, but has not been arrested.

At Koës a woman was assaulted in front of a club on Friday. The suspect, a 28-year-old man, was arrested.

Francisco Arnold (21) was stabbed in the chest near Eyambeko in the Outjo District on Saturday and died upon arrival at the hospital. The suspect has not been arrested yet.

Also on Saturday, an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at a bar in Outjo. He was admitted to the local state hospital for treatment. The suspect is known but has not been arrested yet. At a bar in Swakopmund, a 25-year-old man was stabbed in the arm, back and chest on Saturday.

The victim was taken to Swakopmund state hospital from where he was transferred to Windhoek for further treatment. The suspect was arrested. In another incident the body of a baby, assumed to be a newborn, was discovered at Stampriet last week. At Lüderitz, a 21-year-old woman who suffered a miscarriage is suspected of having induced an abortion by taking tablets. She went to see a doctor on Saturday after bleeding heavily. The woman was admitted to the Lüderitz state hospital.
