The seasonal rainfall outlook looks positive, from now until next year.

With the heatwave of the past few weeks finally broken by welcome showers in parts of the country, the average of the country's storage dams currently stands at 43.2%.

A promising rainy season still lies ahead, with forecasts of normal to above-normal rainfall.

Last season this time the average level of the country's dams was a mere 21.7%.

In the central area, the average dam level stands at 63%, compared to last season's 16%.

The Swakoppoort Dam is currently 75.2% full (last season 5.6%), while the Von Bach is 82.1% full (last season 37.5%).

The Omatako Dam, which was empty last season, is now 25.8% full. Friedenau Dam's level stands at 42% and the Goreangab Dam at 85.5%.

In the south, the average dam level is 42.7% compared to last season's 26.5%. This does not include the new Neckartal Dam.

The average of the dams in the Gobabis area is 43.7%, compared to last season's 1.1%.

In the north, the Olushandja Dam is 13.9% full in comparison to last season's 25%.

The Omaruru Delta Dam and the Omatjenne Dam are both still empty.

The seasonal rainfall outlook shows that large parts of Namibia can expect above-normal rainfall from January to March next year.

From now until December, large parts of the country are likely to receive normal to above-normal rainfall, with pockets of below-normal rainfall.Heatwave breaks
