Quinton van Rooyen: A meteoric rise
MTC has announced Quinton van Rooyen as the seventh guest of the popular ‘Masters of Success’ talk show series.
Van Rooyen will be the third Namibian guest, following in the footsteps of First Lady Monica Geingos and lawyer Sisa Namandje.
Geingos, Namandje and other guests such as Bonang Matheba and Mzwakhe Mbuli have all shared inspirational stories of struggle and triumph on the popular monthly show over the last few months.
Van Rooyen is described as an inspiring business personality, and is the Group Managing Director of Trustco Group Holdings.
Van Rooyen was born in KwaZulu-Natal in 1965. Upon the completion of a B Juris degree in 1989 and an LLB degree in 1992, Van Rooyen joined a local law firm to do his articles. Bored to death, he hopped into his Nissan 1400 bakkie and veered off down the detour to entrepreneurship, purchasing 100% of Trustco for a mere N$100.
In 2003, he won Business Communicator of the year. In 2007 he was awarded second place in the PMR Golden Arrow Award for most admired business personality in Namibia, an award that was also won by the late business stalwart Harold Pupkewitz.
In 2012 the IUM bestowed on him an Honorary Doctorate in Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship. He was inducted into the prestigious Namibian Business Hall of Fame in 2014with the support of Junior Achievement Namibia and the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The seeds of his entrepreneurial flair and business acumen gave rise to a corporate entity operational in Namibia, South Africa and listed on the JSE Limited with a market capitalisation of almost N$4 billion. The show will take place on August 27 at the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) and tickets are available at the NTN box office.
The ‘MTC Masters of Success’ series has been hailed as the most inspiring platform and one of the most watched shows in Namibia.
“We are privileged to host yet another Namibian, and we encourage the public to engage Van Rooyen by posting their questions via our social media pages, and to attend the show,” said MTC executive Tim Ekandjo.
