Kavango West police are still busy with the identification of the 10 people who died on Friday evening when the two vehicles they were travelling in collided and caught fire.
According to the regional police commander, Commissioner Josephat Abel, the accident took place near Simanya village, some 18 kilometres from Nkurenkuru, at around 18:45.
A seven-seater vehicle with five occupants and a Nissan Tidal collided head on. The Nissan was overloaded with six occupants. Only one person survived and was rushed to the Nkurenkuru hospital in a critical condition.
Abel yesterday confirmed that the survivor was still in a stable but critical condition.
As for the identification of the victims, Abel said the police might need DNA tests because the bodies were burnt beyond recognition.
Namibian Sun understands that one of the vehicles was returning from a funeral held on Saturday.
