Police in Otjozondjupa have requested all hospitals and clinics around Okahandja and nearby areas to look out for a man with a gunshot wound. This following a robbery around 07:30 yesterday morning at Agra Okahandja.
A security guard, who was carrying out his daily duties to transfer funds to the main branch, was ambushed by five armed robbers who fled the scene in a silver Golf GTi with a bag containing N$49 000 in cash. One of the suspects was shot during the incident.
An employee, who chose to remain anonymous, suspects an insider at Agra must have tipped off the robbers as the cash drop is done daily.
"The guard was on his way from DIY depot to the main branch by foot as usual, and was attacked. The guard sustained injuries,” she said.
The robbery was confirmed by deputy inspector Reinhardt Maletzky.
If you have any information relating to the incident, please call Maletzky at 081 272 4527 or contact the nearest police station.
