Parties team up in Okakarara council
PDM's Olga Tjiurutue is the new mayor of Okakarara, while Asnathe Jazukuka of Nudo is the deputy mayor.

OKAKARARA
The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) and National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) have teamed up to run the administrative affairs of the Okakarara town council.
The newly elected local authority councillors for the two political parties agreed last Thursday to form a coalition.
The coalition also voted for the PDM's re-elected local authority councillor, Olga Tjiurutue as mayor, while Asnathe Jazukuka from Nudo is the deputy mayor.
Golden Katjatako of Nudo was elected chairperson of the management committee, who will serve along with Bricks Kaaronda of PDM and Seuaa Ngaiko of the Landless People's Movement (LPM).
The two Swapo Party members serving on the Okakarara council are Francisca Hamukwaya and Collen Ngujapeua, who remain ordinary council members.
Their swearing-in was delayed by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), which had to allocate seats to their political parties.
The allocation of seats was announced by the ECN last Wednesday. The new councillors were sworn in by Magistrate Masule Kwizi. They were elected during the Regional Council and Local Authority elections on 25 November 2020.
