Pandeni School to host sports tournament

The John Alphons Pandeni Combined School will host a sports tournament next weekend.
The organiser of the tournament, Vaino Shimutwikeni, said the football and netball tournament would be held at the David Sheehama Senior Secondary School sports field in Outapi on 22 and 23 September.
He said the school's patron, Sion Andjamba of Oluzizi World of Commerce, has sponsored the tournament to the tune of N$10 000.
“He is sponsoring this tournament to give learners an opportunity to prove their potential, as well as to supplement the school's coffers financially,” Shimutwikeni said.
The tournament is being hosted for the first time this year and will become an annual event.
A school bazaar will also be held at the same time to raise funds. The tournament is strictly for learners of junior secondary, combined and primary schools.
Football teams pay a registration fee of N$500, while netball teams will pay N$400 to register.
The football champions of the tournament will win N$1 800, while the winners in netball will receive N$1 550.
The runners-up and third-placed team in football will walk away with N$1 400 and N$1 000, respectively.
A prize of N$1 250 will go to the runners-up in netball, while the third prize in this category will be N$ 950.
The draw for the tournament will take place on 21 September at Outapi.
