Pakote denies reports of NBC top job
Moses Pakote, the Deputy Executive Director in the Office of the Vice-President, has denied rumours doing the circles that he is in the running for the new director-general position at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). A weekly newspaper yesterday listed him along MTC executive Tim Ekandjo as well Stanley Similo, Head of Human Resources at Telecom’s TN Mobile as the frontrunners to replace Albertus Aochamub, who was this week named as presidential spokesperson. In a strongly worded statement, Pakote said: “I have never applied, neither entered into any discussion for this position, or any other positions whether in the public or private sector, nor do I currently intend to do so. I am elated and humbled for having been accorded this historic opportunity to serve our first Vice-President Dr Nickey Iyambo in the execution of his duties,” he said.
He ended by making an appeal to Namibian media houses to desist from unverified reporting and “rumour mongering”.
