Three local business people in Ongwediva walked away with a cash prize through pitching their ideas during a three-day training held by the MatchME2Funding project recently.

According to the programme’s marketing officer Tove Kangotue, MatchME2Funding is an impact tank initiative conducted in partnership with Start Up Namibia, GIZ and Nedbank, with the aim of addressing challenges faced by start-up businesses such as accessing training and financial assistance.

He said the training will be conducted in 10 towns, where 20 people will be selected within each town to pitch their ideas during the ‘smack-down’, set to be held in Windhoek.

For each town, the three best ideas will walk away with a cash prize, Kangotue added.

“The pitch training provides the start-ups with improved business development skills and increases their readiness to formally present their business to funders. It also creates links to the financial institutions,” he said.

Winners

During the three-day training, founder of Divine Investment CC, Jocobina Kanime, secured the first place with her restaurant and walked away with N$ 5 000.

Lucas Komomeya scooped the second prize and walked away with N$ 4 250, for Komo Academy, which focuses on education.

Third place went to Oiva Nakasole, who scooped N$ 3 250 for his idea, the Oshakati Mentorship Training Institute.
